DETAILS
Flag Football is offered for children who are 5-13 years old as of April 30, 2024. The leagues are defined similarly to the way they were defined for this past Baseball season: 5 year olds, 6 year olds, 7-8 year olds, 9-10 year olds, and 11-13 year olds. Players are auto-assigned to leagues based on their age as of April 30, 2024. Teams will be co-ed, but are comprised of mostly boys.
Games will be played on Avenger Field (next to Children’s Hospital). Games in most leagues will be on Saturday mornings and early afternoon, with the 5 year olds (Kindergarten league) playing on Monday evenings. 6 year olds (1st grade league) could also have a few Monday night games as well. The season is expected to run from early September through mid-November.
GRADING and DRAFTING
Players in the 7-8, 9-10, and 11-13 year old leagues must be graded. Grading will take place on Avenger Field, the large field next to the Audubon tennis courts, as follows.
Sunday, August 18
3:00-4:00 PM 7-8 league
4:00-5:00 PM 9-10 league
5:00-6:00 PM 11-13 league
Monday, August 19
5:00-6:00 PM 11-13 league
6:00-7:00 PM 7-8 league
7:00-8:00 PM 9-10 league
Players need to attend either one of the two sessions for their age group.
Players in all leagues will be drafted onto teams and will be issued a team shirt at the first game. Parents are to submit their child's shirt size and number preference with their registration. Players' names will be printed on the backs of their shirts as well. Players should wear dark shorts without pockets, and can wear either cleats or tennis shoes. No other equipment is required.
REGISTRATION
Register on line by logging in to your Carrollton registration account Login and following the procedure. The registration fee is $150 for your first child, $125 for each additional child, plus a $2.00 fee per transaction. You may pay on line by credit card or you may choose the option to send a check, but note that your registration is not considered complete until fees are paid. Players who are not registered will not be graded or drafted onto teams.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Some leagues will inevitably fill up, so we urge you to register your children as soon as possible.
Please note that, while we will allow children to be registered for both soccer and flag football, there could be game conflicts between the two sports as both are played primarily on Saturday morning/early afternoon. Registration fees are refundable up until teams are drafted.
For registration or fee assistance, contact Alan Godchaux at [email protected]. Full and partial scholarships are available.
COACHES
Coaching is an excellent way to not only develop a greater appreciation for flag football, but to also form a special bond with your son or daughter as the season progresses. If you are interested in being a coach, simply answer “yes” to the question when registering, then also register yourself as a volunteer coach, and we will contact you.
DONATIONS
When registering, please also consider making a tax-deductible contribution to our Capital Fund at "checkout". Contributions to this fund are used for continued additions and improvements to our fields and facilities.
