The Carrollton Boosters basketball program is a recreational intramural program for boys and girls aged 5–12 as of August 31, 2019. The program will be coordinated by Basketball Commissioner Robbie Hughes, who can be contacted at [email protected]. Girls’ basketball leagues will be coordinated by Kate Mehok, who can be contacted at [email protected]
The program consists of the following leagues, to which registered players will be automatically assigned based on their age as of Aug. 31, 2019:
5-6 Boys: Boys who were 5 or 6 on Aug 31, 2019
7-8 Boys: Boys who were 7 or 8 on Aug 31, 2019
9-10 Boys: Boys who were 9 or 10 on Aug 31, 2019
11-12 Boys: Boys who were 11 or 12 on Aug 31, 2019
5-6 Girls: Girls who were 5 or 6 on Aug 31, 2019
7-8 Girls: Girls who were 7 or 8 on Aug 31, 2019
9-10 Girls: Girls who were 9 or 10 on Aug 31, 2019
11-12 Girls: Girls who were 11 or 12 on Aug 31, 2019
All players are drafted onto teams which play a schedule of games from mid-January through late March, with a break for Mardi Gras. All games will be played at Newman School, either in the Tuohy gym on Danneel St, or in the Palaestra on Jefferson Ave.
The 5-6 yr old Boys and Girls beginner leagues will practice and play on Saturdays. The 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12 yr old leagues will play on weeknights, plus the 11-12 Boys, and possibly the 11-12 Girls, will also have games on Sunday afternoon/evenings. Older leagues may also have an occasional Saturday afternoon game, if the schedule warrants.
Coaches will schedule practices after the teams are drafted. 5-6’s generally do not practice outside of their Saturday game time slot.
Registration will open in early December. Log in to your Carrollton registration account to register your children. NOTE: Our registration system is now powered by Sports Connect instead of Blue Sombrero, and has a slightly different look, but you will not need to create a new registration account if you have registered with Carrollton since April of 2018.
The fee is $125 for your first child, $100 for each additional child, plus a non-refundable $3 transaction fee. You may pay on line by credit card, or you may choose the option to send a check, but note that your registration is not considered complete until fees are paid. Players who are not registered will not be graded or drafted onto teams.
For assistance with the registration process, or for payment assistance, contact Alan Godchaux at 352-8290 or [email protected]
GRADING AND DRAFTING
All players, except for the 5-6’s, must be graded. Grading will be held at the Newman Tuohy gym on Danneel St. in early January, beginning as early as Monday, January 6. The full grading schedule will be posted when ready, in mid or late December.
By registering your child, you agree to having him or her placed in a player draft, during which any of our volunteer coaches may pick him or her onto a team. Carrollton Boosters does not guarantee placement of any player onto any particular team, or onto a team with any particular other player(s). The only exceptions are that coaches get to pick their own children, and that siblings are placed on the same team, unless otherwise requested by their parent/guardian. After players have been drafted onto a team, registration fees will not be refunded or credited, except in cases of illness or injury.
When registering your child for basketball, please consider coaching your child’s team. Carrollton relies on volunteer parents to coach its teams. Coaching is an excellent way to not only develop a greater appreciation for basketball, but to also form a special bond with your son or daughter as the season progresses. In order to coach, simply answer “yes” to the question when registering, then also register yourself as a volunteer coach, and we will contact you.
Another way to contribute to our program is to sponsor your child’s team. Sponsors select the team’s colors and name, and may include a business name and logo as well. The fee is $275 and can be paid with your child’s registration or can be paid by a separate check. Simply answer “yes” to the sponsor question when registering your child, then, after you have completed your child(ren)’s registration, choose one of three ways to get your sponsor info to us:
1) Click this link to be taken directly to our basketball sponsor form: Basketball Sponsor Form
2) e-mail your sponsorship information to Missy McLellan at [email protected].
3) click the “Basketball sponsor form” tab on our website’s home page.
Important to note:
- Sponsorship choices (colors and team names) are determined by the date they are submitted, i.e first come, first served.
- Your sponsorship will be attached to your child’s team unless you specify otherwise.
If you have any questions regarding sponsoring a team, please contact Missy McLellan at 504-914-7786 or by email to [email protected]
When registering, please also consider making a tax-deductible contribution to our Capital Fund. Contributions to this fund are used for continued additions and improvements to our fields and facilities.
