2023 LACROSSE
Lacrosse is available for boys and girls ages 5-13 (as of Aug. 31, 2022), up to 7th Grade. The cost for the Spring program will be $150 per player ($25 discount for multiple registrants), plus a non-refundable $2 transaction fee. To register, click on the registration link and proceed from there. For registration or fee assistance, contact Alan Godchaux at [email protected]
Flex 6 Format: Ages 5–8-Year-Old Only: This non-contact option is for boys and girls ages 5-8 and only requires a lacrosse stick and a mouthpiece. This is a great way to learn the sport as your child will be exposed to the basic elements such as throwing, cradling, and catching with the lacrosse stick. To include as many children as possible, and to possibly expand this program to more nights, we need volunteer coaches and assistant coaches as we would like to move into coaching teams. No experience is necessary! We will hold a coach’s clinic about a week before the season starts to give you all the skills, drills, and strategies you will need to know. If you are interested in coaching this age group, please say 'YES' when you are completing registration so that we can follow up with you. For the Spring, please know that we will be offering this option only on Wednesday evenings for an hour. The program will start in late January and end in mid-late March.
Girls Lacrosse: We just completed our first Fall Clinic Session and are looking forward to seeing more players this Spring! This program is for girls 9-13 years old as of Aug. 31, 2022, up to 7tht grade. Mandatory equipment needed for girls lacrosse is a stick, mouthpiece, and lacrosse eye masks. If you have women’s lacrosse experience or just want to be involved in the growth of this sport in our area, please let me know. Practices will be on Wednesdays in the Spring starting in late January.
Sixes League (6v6): This program is for Boys between 3rd and 7th grade (no 8th graders), new and returning Carrollton players. Soon after the start of this season, kids will be graded on their lacrosse ability and then placed on teams. We will have separate leagues for older and younger players. Participation in this program will require all mandatory equipment including lacrosse stick, helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, mouthpiece, and a protective cup. This league will be short sticks only, no defensive poles will be allowed. Each player should also have a U.S. Lacrosse Number. If you have lacrosse experience and want to coach a team, please let us know. This program starts in mid-January, ends in April, and will be two nights per week, breakdown as follows:
- January 16, 18 , 23, 25 – Practice
- January 30 & February 1 - Grading Days
- February 3 - Team Assignments, Sixes League Schedule, and Travel Team designations will be released
- February 6 - Sixes League Games Begin (Mondays Only through early April).
- February 8 – Training/Practice – Wednesdays Only – Stick work, fundamentals, full field scrimmages, etc.
Travel Teams: With the addition of the Sixes League for boys between 3rd and 7th grades, weekend travel is no longer a requirement for lacrosse at Carrollton. However, Carrollton Lacrosse is always invited to the weekend regional tournaments and asked to participate in the local Middle School games. Since we would like to continue participating in the games that offer the opportunity to play against local and regional competition, we have decided to form travel teams for the different age groups. As part of our player grading this year, we will select players with the proper skill levels to participate in the various travel games throughout the Spring. As we did this past Fall, our coaches will evaluate the players during drills and small group play. We are specifically looking at attitude, coachability, respect, teamwork, stick skills, dodging, defending, shooting skills, and game sense. After the player evaluations are complete, the coaches will meet to discuss every player who participated and assign a grade. When team assignments and Sixes schedules are released, we will also share with the parents whether your child is eligible to play for a Carrollton Lacrosse travel team.
