Children in our 3-year-old program (U-4 mixed) are divided into small training groups that meet on Saturday mornings. Each session will include some basic soccer skill training and plenty of fun. All sessions will be held at the Carrollton Boosters’ Riverview sports complex (baseball/softball fields) on the “Fly” behind the Audubon Zoo.
All other players U-6 and older are drafted onto teams, then play a schedule of games from mid-September through mid-November. Most games will be on Saturdays, at varying times, plus the U-10 and U-13 leagues will also have Friday evening games. Coaches will schedule practices, usually held on weekday evenings, after the teams are drafted. U-6 teams do not generally practice outside of their Saturday time slot.
All games will be held on the “Fly” behind the Audubon Zoo, and team practices will be held either on the “Fly” or at the Cuccia-Byrnes playground at 8321 Forshey St., near the Carrollton Ave. post office.
Players will be issued a team shirt and socks, to be worn at all games. They will also need shin guards, plus either soccer cleats (preferable) or tennis shoes. Each player should have his or her own ball as well. Appropriate ball sizes are: #3 for U-4, U-6 and U-8, #4 for U-10 and U-13, and #5 for U-17.
For more information about our soccer program, please contact soccer commissioner Ed McGinnis at [email protected].
To register, log in to or create your Carrollton Boosters registration account registration login and follow the procedure. The fee is $125 for the first child, plus $100 for each additional child.
You may pay on line by credit card or you may choose the option to send a check, but note that your registration is not considered complete until fees are paid. Players who are not registered will not be graded or drafted onto teams.
Note that registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Some leagues will inevitably fill up, so we urge you to register your children as soon as possible.
Contact Alan Godchaux at [email protected] for more information or for payment assistance.
GRADING & DRAFTING
All players, including those in the U-6 beginner league, are assigned to teams through a player draft. By registering your child, you agree to having him or her placed in the player draft, during which any of our volunteer coaches may pick him or her onto a team. Carrollton Boosters does not guarantee placement of any player onto any particular team, or onto a team with any particular other player(s). The only exceptions are that coaches get to pick their own children, and that siblings are placed on the same team, unless otherwise requested by their parent/guardian. After players have been drafted onto a team, registration fees will not be refunded or credited, except in cases of illness or injury.
When registering your child or children for soccer, please consider coaching your child’s team. Carrollton relies on volunteer parents to coach its teams. Coaching is an excellent way to not only develop a greater appreciation for soccer, but to form a special bond with your son or daughter as the season progresses. In order to coach, simply answer “yes” to the question when registering, then also register yourself as a coach, and we will contact you. We will be scheduling coaching clinics in late August/early September.
Another way to contribute to our program is to sponsor your child’s team. Sponsors select the team’s colors and name, and may include a business name and logo as well. The fee is $275 and can be paid with your child’s registration or can be paid by a separate check. Simply answer “yes” to the sponsor question when registering your child, then, after you have completed your child(ren)’s registration, choose one of three ways to get your sponsor info to us:
1) Click this link to be taken directly to our sponsor form: Sponsor Form
2) e-mail your sponsorship information to Missy McLellan at [email protected].
3) click the “Soccer sponsor form” tab on our website’s home page.
Important to note:
- Sponsorship choices (colors and team names) are determined by the date they are submitted, i.e first come, first served.
- Your sponsorship will be attached to your child’s team unless you specify otherwise.
If you have any questions regarding sponsoring a team, please contact Missy McLellan at 504-914-7786 or by email to [email protected]
THE NEW ORLEANS JESTERS IN-SEASON SKILLS CLINIC
Carrollton’s partner in soccer, the New Orleans Jesters of the Premier Developmental League, serve as trainers for our young players and will conduct clinics for our volunteer parent-coaches.
Carrollton offers, for an additional fee of $50, a series of clinics (training sessions) on Friday evenings throughout the soccer season. The clinics are conducted by members of the Jesters soccer club. You may opt to register your child(ren) for the Friday clinics with your soccer registration, or you may contact Alan Godchaux, [email protected], to add the clinics later on.
The Jesters also run the NOLA Soccer Academy, which features Pre-Elite and Elite training programs, in which Carrollton Boosters recreational players are invited to participate. For more information about these programs, go to nolajesters.com
When registering, please also consider making a tax-deductible contribution to our Capital Fund. Contributions to this fund are used for continued additions and improvements to our fields and facilities.
