CARROLLTON SOCCER

FALL SOCCER 2018

THE PROGRAM
The Carrollton Boosters soccer program is a recreational, intramural program for boys and girls aged
3 – 16 as of July 31, 2018
. Please note that we have changed the "as of" date from December 31 back to July 31, as we believe using this date will serve to more appropriately determine players' age groups. Accordingly, all registered players will be automatically assigned to the age groups as defined below:

U-4 mixed: Boys and Girls who are 3 years old on July 31, 2018
U-6 mixed: Boys and Girls who are 4 or 5 on July 31, 2018
U-8 Boys: Boys who are 6 or 7 on July 31, 2018
U-8 Girls: Girls who are 6 or 7 on July 31, 2018
U-10 Boys: Boys who are 8 or 9 on July 31, 2018
U-10 Girls: Girls who are 8 or 9 on July 31, 2018
U-13 Boys: Boys who are 10,11, or 12 on July 31, 2018
U-13 Girls: Girls who are 10,11, or 12 on July 31, 2018
U-17 mixed: Boys and Girls who are 13,14,15 or 16 on July 31, 2018

Children in our 3-year-old program (U-4 mixed) are divided into small training groups that meet on Saturday mornings from mid-September through mid-November. Each session will include some basic soccer skill training and plenty of fun. All sessions will be held at the Carrollton Boosters’ Riverview sports complex (baseball/softball fields) on the “Fly” behind the Audubon Zoo.

All other players U-6 and older are drafted onto teams, then play a schedule of games from mid-September through mid-November. Most games will be on Saturdays, at varying times, plus the U-8 and older leagues will also have some Friday evening games. Coaches will schedule practices, usually held on weekday evenings, after the teams are drafted. U-6 teams do not generally practice outside of their Saturday time slot.

All games will be held on the “Fly” behind the Audubon Zoo, and team practices will be held either on the “Fly” or at the Cuccia-Byrnes playground at 8321 Forshey St., near the Carrollton Ave. post office.

Players will be issued a team shirt and socks, to be worn at all games. They will also need shin guards, plus either soccer cleats (preferable) or tennis shoes.  Each player should have his or her own ball as well.  Appropriate ball sizes are #3 for U-4, U-6 and U-8, #4 for U-10 and U-13, and #5 for U-17.

REGISTRATION
To register, click on the registration tab and follow the procedure. Note that we are now using a different on line registration system, powered by Blue Sombrero, so you will need to create a new registration account. Be sure to add all appropriate adult contacts, then add participants, and then select which ones you wish to currently register. The fee is $125 for the first child, plus $100 for each additional child.
You may pay on line by credit card or you may choose the option to send a check, but note that your registration is not considered complete until fees are paid. Players who are not registered will not be graded or drafted onto teams.
Note that registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Some leagues will inevitably fill up, so we urge you to register your children as soon as possible.

Contact Alan Godchaux at algodch@aol.com for more information or for payment assistance.

GRADING and DRAFTING
All players in the U-8, U-10, and U-13 leagues must be graded in order to be eligible to be drafted onto a team.  Grading has not been scheduled yet but will likely begin on Saturday, August 18, and continue the following week.  Consult our web site in early August for the grading schedule.  Make-up grading sessions will be announced later as well.  Players who do not attend grading are subject to being excluded from the league.

All players, including those in the U-6 beginner league, are assigned to teams through a player draft.  By registering your child, you agree to having him or her placed in the player draft, during which any of our volunteer coaches may pick him or her onto a team.  Carrollton Boosters does not guarantee placement of any player onto any particular team, or onto a team with any particular other player(s).  The only exceptions are that coaches get to pick their own children, and that siblings are placed on the same team, unless otherwise requested by their parent/guardian.  After players have been drafted onto a team, registration fees will not be refunded or credited, except in cases of illness or injury.

COACHES
When registering your child or children for soccer, please consider coaching your child’s team. Carrollton relies on volunteer parents to coach its teams. Coaching is an excellent way to not only develop a greater appreciation for soccer, but to form a special bond with your son or daughter as the season progresses. In order to coach, simply answer “yes” to the question when registering, then also register yourself as a coach, and we will contact you. We will be scheduling coaching clinics in late August/early September.

SPONSORS
Another way to contribute to our program is to sponsor your child’s team (for U-6 and older only; we do not use sponsors for the U-4 training groups).  Sponsors select the team’s colors and name, and may include a business name and logo as well. The fee is $275 and can be paid with your child’s registration or can be paid by a separate check. Simply answer “yes” to the sponsor question when registering your child, then, after you have completed your child(ren)’s registration, choose one of three ways to get your sponsor info to us:

1) Click this link to be taken directly to our sponsor form: Sponsor Form

2) e-mail your sponsorship information to Missy McLellan at midnight.round@gmail.com

3) click the “Soccer sponsor form” tab on our website’s home page

*** Important to note:
- Sponsorship choices (colors and team names) are determined by the date they are submitted, i.e first come, first served.
- Your sponsorship will be attached to your child’s team unless you specify otherwise.
If you have any questions regarding sponsoring a team, please contact Missy McLellan at 504-914-7786 or by email to midnight.round@gmail.com

THE NEW ORLEANS JESTERS IN-SEASON SKILLS CLINIC
Carrollton’s partner in soccer, the New Orleans Jesters of the Premier Developmental League, serve as trainers for our young players and will conduct clinics for our volunteer parent-coaches.

Carrollton offers, to all players in the U-6 through U-13 age groups, a series of clinics (training sessions) on Friday evenings throughout the soccer season. These clinics are conducted by members of the Jesters soccer club at a cost of $50 for the season. You may opt to register your child(ren) for the Friday clinics with your soccer registration, or you may contact Alan Godchaux, algodch@aol.com, to add the clinics later on.

The Jesters also run the NOLA Soccer Academy, which features Pre-Elite and Elite training programs, in which Carrollton Boosters recreational players are invited to participate. For more information about these programs, contact Brian Soileau at bsoileau@nolajesters.com

DONATIONS
When registering, please also consider making a tax-deductible contribution to our Capital Fund at "checkout". Contributions to this fund are used for continued additions and improvements to our fields and facilities.
